About the Business
- China's Indirect Taxes, including Value-added Tax ("VAT"), Consumption Tax ("CT") and Customs Duty ("CD"), are taxes on transaction basis. Indirect tax revenue constitutes more than half of the nation's overall tax revenue. The tax authorities, as well as Customs have stepped up measures to ensure proper administration and collection of Indirect Taxes.
The core of our service philosophy is to assist clients in the Indirect Tax compliance review to ensure meeting regulatory requirements, and offer ideas in Indirect Tax cost saving and (cross-border) operating models optimization that align with the clients' overall business objectives
Work you'll do
- Provides initial recommendations of current tax legislation across the Global Tax function to Manager level practitioners
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the key capabilities required to deliver a high quality service experience to the client
- Selects appropriate methods for collecting and analyzing data, and develops informed recommendations that shape or support the client’s business strategy
- Articulates how technology enables the business and communicates this effectively to clients while ensuring appropriate technologies and methodologies are used on projects
- Understands, applies, and monitors tax returns and refunds, their implications, opportunities, and optimization
- Collaborates with the departments of authorities, familiarizing him/herself with local tax organizational structure, responsibilities, rights and obligations of both taxpayers and tax authorities
- Understands the basic principles and structure of legislation and related concentration, development in law, published tax authority positions, and court cases
- Performs complex technical, risk, and opportunity analyses based on particular customs laws, rulings, jurisprudence facts and circumstances of the client
- Drafts client deliverables detailing interpretations of domestic and international laws, business and technical findings, and proposes recommendations/solutions
- Identifies client's needs, and underlying business and industry issues, by asking relevant, specific questions and makes recommendations to Mastery level specialists

We are looking for someone with:
- Degree holders in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Law or related disciplines, with a recognized professional qualification
- Minimum two years of customs and trade experience from advisory firms or multinational companies
- Self-motivated, mature, a strong sense of responsibility with positive working attitude and able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Good project management skills and strong business development sense
- Good interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills with experience in coaching and guiding team members
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English
- Strong client service skills and communication skills
- Candidates with more experience will be considered for Director position
