About the Business
- China's Indirect Taxes, including Value-added Tax ("VAT"), Consumption Tax ("CT") and Customs Duty ("CD"), are taxes on transaction basis. Indirect tax revenue constitutes more than half of the nation's overall tax revenue. The tax authorities, as well as Customs have stepped up measures to ensure proper administration and collection of Indirect Taxes.
The core of our service philosophy is to assist clients in the Indirect Tax compliance review to ensure meeting legal and regulatory requirements, and offer ideas in Indirect Tax cost saving and (cross-border) operating models optimization that align with the clients' overall business objectives
Work you'll do
- Demonstrates and applies knowledge of current tax legislation, proposed/pending legislation, their implications, and understands interaction across the Global Tax and Legal function, specifically with their area of expertise
- Demonstrates subject matter specialty and ability to share knowledge in one or more service lines within the Global Tax and Legal function
- Uses appropriate research techniques and analytical skills to enable fact-based decision making
- Uses common technology tools to improve work efficiency, effectiveness, and client service
- Helps clients mitigate risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines, and realize business goals by completing processes and identifying sustainable planning opportunities
- Understands the rights and obligations of taxpayers and tax authorities, current areas of focus of local authorities, and Deloitte's position in response to authorities and client
- Demonstrates VAT and GST subject matter specialty, understands applicable laws, management, and obligations, and can apply professional and industry guidance to advise clients
- Demonstrates and applies knowledge of current customs laws, proposed laws, their implications and understands the interaction of customs and global trade laws with non-customs and global trade disciplines
- Implements processes and identifies sustainable planning opportunities to help clients mitigate risk, meet compliance obligations and statutory deadlines, and realize business goals
- Identifies and develops opportunities to grow the business without compromising quality and integrity

We are looking for someone with:
- Degree holders in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Law or related disciplines, with a recognized professional qualification
- Minimum five years of customs and trade experience from advisory firms or multinational companies
- Self-motivated, mature, a strong sense of responsibility with positive working attitude and able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Good project management skills and strong business development sense
- Good interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills with experience in coaching and guiding team members
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English
- Strong client service skills and communication skills
- Candidates with more experience will be considered for Director position
