About the Business

The incumbent is responsible for the successful execution of software development/implementation projects, specifically the business analysis portion. He/She has to manage BA Team in delivering the requirements on software development/implementation projects, ensuring that the business needs are effectively communicated to the project team, and the business analysis portion of the project meets the goals and priorities of the business ultimately. The incumbent should maintain a level of expertise for business systems and processes as a whole; be the “go to” person from a functional requirements standpoint.

Work you'll do

•    Holistic view of the organization, function and team to ensure that all elements impacted by a problem are considered.
•    Provide solution options and recommendations to solve business problems or meet business goals, with appropriate commercial considerations.
•    Support the development of business cases and business qualification, ensuring strategic fit and clear drivers.
•    Set up and manage the requirements process, including relationship building with the business stakeholders and others who will be the source of the requirements for the project.
•    Identify structural issues within the organization, function or team, functional dependencies and cross silo redundancies, and through analysis, design better ways of working
•    Manage the tools, templates, methods and best practices which BAs should use in the organization.
•    Serve as an on-going coach and advisor to the BAs and create development plan for BAs to grow and to perfect their skills.
•    Manage BA resources, including forecasting how BA team could be assigned to serve on future projects.
•    Perform BA duties in large-scale or strategic projects, balancing BA duties with the lead responsibilities
•    Support BAs to resolve requirement conflicts, documentation and interpersonal issues
•    Play simultaneous Project Manager role in medium/large-scale projects to manage project scope, schedule, resources, budget, communication, quality, risks and issues.
•    Manage application support service at level-2 by BA Team, co-own the application incident management and request management processes, and be accountable for the application support SLA
•    Lead BA team to deliver:

  • Capturing, eliciting, categorization and prioritization of requirements, use cases, user stories to document business needs within both waterfall and agile development environment
  • Conducting research to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within or outside the business, and if not, whether new solutions are feasible
  • Facilitate the solution design with the architecture & development team
  • Contribute a business or process perspective during design reviews
  • Validate that the solution design meets business and functional requirements
  • Developing specifications, functional impacts and prototypes to further illustrate the business need
  • Provide relevant test scenarios for the testing team; work with test team to develop system integration test scripts and ensure the testing results correspond to the business expectations
  • Manage delivery of the solution
  • Provide L2 support on advanced product and usage issues
  • Develop training material and facilitate in learning sessions

•    Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, information system, or related discipline; master degree in business administration a plus.
•    10+ years of hands-on business analysis experience in large-scale business application solution delivery within a defined software development life cycle, with the recent 5 years in team leading role.
•    Project management experience is essential; Agile project experience is preferred.
•    Strong business acumen; familiar with ERP, CRM, Finance and HR business processes and applications.
•    Professional certification in business analysis from IIBA or PMI is an asset.
•    Experience of working in sizable companies in Greater China.
•    Proficient in written and oral communication in Cantonese, Putonghua and English.
•    Possess strong team leadership and development skills to build and nurture the BA Team.
•    Possess strong facilitation, negotiation and problem resolution skills to enable success of the requirements process.
•    Excellent client facing skills, workshop planning & facilitation skills, presentation skills and communication & negotiation skills
•    Experience in generating quality business cases, impact assessments, feasibility reports and dependency models
•    Able to apply strategic thinking to prioritize and balance multiple projects to achieve organizational goals.
•    Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the corporate goals.
•    Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
•    Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
•    Assess problem situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.
•    Knowledgeable about how organizations work and know how to get things done both through formal channels and the informal network.
•    Advanced knowledge of business analysis methodologies, best practices, tools and techniques.
•    Knowledge of methods and techniques in evaluating business needs and developing enterprise IT applications such as ERP, CRM, and HRIS.
•    Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
•    Skills and knowledge in business process improvement.
•    Knowledge of current trends and innovations in technology and computer software applications.
