Title:  Senior Consultant (Financial Industry Risk & Regulatory) - Hong Kong

About the Business

We work with clients across the financial services industry including banks, insurance firms, securities firms and asset managers, as well regulatory bodies and financial technology (fintech) firms supporting the ecosystem. 

We support our clients in their efforts to mitigate the risk impact on society, their business, and consumers, whether in terms of financial risk, including credit and liquidity risk, operational risk, and combating financial crime.  As the risk landscape changes through COVID-19 and environmental and sustainability challenges, our business has evolved to support our clients through these times.   

Advancements in cognitive technologies, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), and data analytics are helping organizations go beyond traditional methods of managing risks by using smart technologies to detect, predict, and avoid risks in high-risk situations. Human behaviour has become a key component with respect to mitigating risk within organizations. Therefore, a core focus for our team lies in our ability to advise clients on future technology risk trends, and on the potential use of technology in reducing risk (Regtech / InsurTech), as well as organization culture factors that may result in risky behaviours.  
 

Work you'll do

We are now looking for talented individuals to join us during this exciting period of risk and compliance modernisation to advise our financial services clients on governance, regulatory and risk management and transformation. As a member of our team you will have the opportunity to work across all aspects of the risk and regulatory business but primarily you will:

• Support and deliver risk advisory projects; producing high quality project deliverables as per the expected scope and timelines
• Support business development including sales bidding processes and contract management
• Participate in eminence building initiatives to strengthen Deloitte's leading position in the provision of risk advisory services, e.g. participating in events and publications
• Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of advisory tools and methodologies
• Support Deloitte's relationship with key financial services institutions, industry representative bodies and regulatory bodies in Hong Kong and beyond
• Participate in relationship building with the rest of the global Deloitte network through cross-firm engagements and business development opportunities, regional and international eminence activities, and staff exchanges, etc.

We are looking for someone with:

• A university degree  in Finance/Economics/Engineering/Risk Management/Quantitative Finance/Law, or a related field 
• Professional qualification(s) such as FRM, CFA or equivalent 
• Industry experience from leading advisory firms/banks/insurers/exchanges/regulators/credit agencies//brokerage/private equity/asset management/tech firms or tech start-ups 
• International working experience would be an advantage
• Experience in working across complex matrix environments; the ideal individual should also be international in their outlook as well as culturally sensitive
• Familiarity with the evolving and complex regulatory environment in the context of financial institutions
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluency in written and spoken business English; fluency in written and spoken Chinese would be an advantage
• Capability to support transformation and change; and work with enthusiasm, drive and effectiveness 
• We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in the domains of:

o    General FSI Risk and Regulatory projects, including PMO
o    Operations and Compliance experience
o    Internal Audit (including IT and insurance)
