About the Business

Financial Advisory (FA) practice of Deloitte China provides strategic and financial advisory services to clients throughout all phases of the economic cycle. FA comprises several distinct but related global service lines whose shared principal objective is the creation and enhancement of shareholder and stakeholder value. 

As part of the integrated approach, we have a team of specialists who focus on the operations of a business. We are expanding the team in China and are seeking committed team members who have a strong ambition to learn, whilst actively contributing to deliver successful projects. 

We expect you to bring experience in operations and support clients in the following areas:

Operations due diligence

  • Assess the risks or opportunities related to the operations (IT, HR, procurement, manufacturing, supply chain) of a Target
  • Review / develop cost reduction or performance improvement initiatives 
  • Identify and quantify operational synergy opportunities

Carve out and divestiture

  • Understand the dependencies of a target business on the parent company
  • Define the Day-1 and target operating model of a target business post acquisition, and assess interim support (i.e. transitional services) required from the parent during transition period
  • Assess impacts on recurring cost structure and one off costs to make the business standalone

Taking control

  • Address critical issues to mitigate prior closing or immediately post-closing
  • Identify and implement critical initiatives to efficiently take control of the target from financial, HR, Operational, Supply Chain, IT, Customer and Sales stand points

Post-merger integration

  • Work with our clients to define and agree the integration strategy and approach
  • Define the Day 1 and future target operating model of the combined business
  • Establish an integration program structure and functional teams to drive integration
  • Map out a 100-day plan post acquisition 
  • Identify value upside (synergies and restructuring benefits) and critical risks that need to be managed 
  • Work with client integration and functional teams to develop detailed integration plans
  • Develop a benefits tracking framework to ensure identified synergies and other performance improvement opportunities are realised.

Work you'll do


  • Working in a team, develop project scope, deliverables, resource requirements, budget and timeline;
  • Carry out detailed analysis of target data, enabling the identification of key opportunities and issues;
  • Interact with target management, developing an understanding of the business supporting the conclusions of your analysis;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, during the projects and as part of overall business development efforts;
  • Identify service opportunities and work with relevant functional specialists (across different Business Units/Lines of Services) to upsell and broaden our support for our clients;
  • Apply quality assurance, risk management, and confidentiality procedures in all areas of work performed and managed.

We are looking for someone with


  • Bachelor degree or above from a reputable institution
  • Minimum Five years of relevant industry experience in managing operations in China/Hong Kong, in functions ranging from procurement, sales operations, manufacturing, supply chain management, and potentially support functions such as HR, IT and Finance
  • Experience in reputable consulting firm will be a plus
  • Experience of projects related to M&A (such as divestiture or post-merger integration) or internal improvement projects will be a plus
  • Understanding of the transaction, company, and sector to help client determine whether to proceed with a transaction 
  • Experience in execute a deal that comprehensively assesses risk to support likelihood of deal success and mitigate potential contingencies
  • Possess a quality assurance certification or industry-specific professional qualification (e.g. Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing) will be a plus
  • Excellent business sense and commercially aware, ideally with some level of financial accounting awareness
  • Native Mandarin speaker and excellent communication skills in English.
